The thing I fear most is the suffocating grip of restrictions on free speech and our ability to freely and widely disseminate information. I can feel the cold, suppressing grip of the state gripping my throat, crimping my fingers, suffocating my speech that demands to be free.
This proposed rule may seem limited and innocuous inasmuch as it addresses jurors, but we must all be vigilant anytime any party’s ability to communicate and speak freely is restricted, even jurors. The title suggests juror use, but the authority clearly is so broad and sweeping that the rights of any party who enters our public courthouses are at grave risk.
