Well, like every other example of staggering government collusion and corruption these days, the reality is a far more disturbing and disgusting truth.
Remember, this was the largest crime spree ever committed upon a people. The perpetrators of the crime pocketed billions of dollars. They were caught red-handed. But the penalties ordered were nothing more than window dressing, no real relief for the victims of the crimes.
Take failed lender GMAC/ALLY as an example. Remember Robo signing? Well, GMAC’s Jeffrey Stephan was the poster child for the practice that became epidemic. And what was the price paid when the penalties were handed down?
315 consumers in Florida got anything meaningful in the way of relief.
Only 315…..and even that number is a bit of puffed up delusion. And no, I’m not counting the 438 people that got short sales completed….those were occurring anyway routinely.
