The 2012 Legislative Session is still months away, but the “leadership” are already filing all the bills that will do so much for this state and the citizens going forward…..
Now, it seems to me we’re in a bit of a crisis in this country and this state is taking it real, real hard. But I want you to scroll through the list of proposed legislation that is filed so far and you tell me whether you think these people get it, are prepared to do anything about it or are they just fiddling away while Rome is burning?
Bookmark the site, and check back often, it will be most interesting to see how all the bank-sponsored legislation just sails right through a greased up legislature while consumer and jobs issues…..
I find this Senate Bill 970 most interesting, We’ll call it the Jack Booted Thug Protection Bill……
The bill SB 970 is interesting. Though it seems reasonable and a good idea to have the Sheriff’s Office perform checks for adandonment BEFORE any financial institution (bank) can enter and lock out the owner (an act the banks call “property presevation”), the bill itself gives broader “rights” to the bank than they already have… and more right to action than they are already doing.
The banks already add the cost of their property preservation onto the loan amount.
The bill releases the bank of any wrongdoing or theft of chattel (the property preservation company hired by the bank can remove all your home contents and sell them without recourse by the homeowner).
I do like the provision where they have to POST on the house that they are planning to take over. However, this sentence circumvents any possible value of this bill:
“A determination by the sheriff or deputy sheriff that this property does not appear to be abandoned may not be sufficient to protect your access to this property.”
The banks just want legal permission to do what they are already doing to homeowners.
