“The settlement is a catastrophe,” said Matt Stoller, a fellow at the New York-based Roosevelt Institute, who studied Central Florida’s housing woes when he was a senior congressional adviser several years ago. “It was never supposed to fix anything for homeowners. It was just a political whitewash to protect the industry.”
The big settlement numbers being bandied about “” such as the $25 billion nationwide figure “” consists mostly of credits the banks get if they do not pursue a deficiency judgment against a homeowner or if they donate a foreclosed house or even have it demolished, Stoller said.
For Larson, even the way complaints are being handled is troublesome. Rather than the Florida Attorney General’s Office actively intervening to ensure the lenders meet their obligations, the office forwards Floridians’ complaints to the lenders for a response.
“It really seems like the AG’s office is directing all the complaints to the banks instead of protecting the taxpayers of Florida,” Larson said.
WHITEWASH
Time to fire ALL public “officials” who claim to be “protecting” the people. Failure to do their job. Failure of the judges to uphold their office of public trust. Failure of the representatives turned politicians, to follow the restrictions of the constitution of both state and federal. Time to shut the corruption down and start over. It’s too far gone to repair. We need a new type of government, run by the people, NOT politicians.
We can all vote for all needs by computer. One treasury that all the people have access to for all the credit they want – no more DEBT based interest currency. Only credit -interest free. The entire basis of society is the money and it’s flow. We need a Community Chest that the PEOPLE decide if the government workers get access to it. Only disburse what they need. No more fat pensions, pork projects, bloated military budgets, etc. We are living in an antiquated financial arena run by criminals. We are not even supposed to be paying property tax, per the state constitution. See exemption statute. Our homes are PRIVATE property, NOT real property. “Real” property is commercial. Many people are forced into foreclosure for not paying their property taxes, when in fact they are unalienable. Our properties are UNALIENABLE- private!
I have been seeking “legal” help for over 5 years with a case currently on the books. Still no agency wants to help the homebuyers. They send us to the banks, who have no incentives to help. For example is anyone else out there outraged that Countrywide was allowed to open another corporation as “PennyMac” and profit from the same liar loans they started and have been found responsible for as Countrywide?
What is happening to our country?
