Florida governor usually takes top billing as this state’s most ethically obscene figure, but an article that appears in today’s Miami Herald suggests that there’s some real competition heating up in this state in that arena.
When Florida’s Attorney General announced that her office’s #1 priority was to pursue timeshare fraud I thought, ” Huh? Timeshare Fraud. Really. Who really cares?”
I don’t believe for one moment that timeshare fraud is my state’s chief consumer protection issue….. so what really is driving this pursuit? (Follow the Money)
Apparently the “leadership” in this state still does not even come close to “getting it”….they’re playing a dangerous game continuing with the games of business as usual….
TALLAHASSEE — Despite Florida’s struggles with Medicare fraud, foreclosure ” robo-signing” and prescription drug ” pill mills”, the attorney general’s top legislative priority is to clean up timeshare resale fraud.
At the same time, one of the Republican party’s top donors during the third quarter is the American Resort Development Association (ARDA), a Washington-based timeshare trade group that has more than doubled its giving this year to $281,787 (up from $135,000 in the first three quarters of 2010). That group has explicitly stated that its legislative priority this year is to see that bill passed.
