“It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”
– Joseph Goebbels, Reich Minister of Propaganda, Nazi Germany
Remember the game, Where’s Waldo? Well here’s a new twist on the game.
First, consider the recognized elements of fascism, I like the definitions on Wikipedia.
Next, consider the political, social and economic situation that exists in this country today. If you’re a little fuzzy on the details, consider that the great working class of America has been decimated, unemployment for returning soldiers and veterans is shockingly high, college graduates are unemployed at record rates, Americans are being summarily evicted from their homes through farcical extra legal processes, the banks that run this country boldly assert that they can kick down your door and change your locks whenever they chose with no notice and no court order, Americans unable to pay debts can be sent to debtor’s prisons, our nation’s youth can have their assets and meager paychecks seized to pay student loan debt with no legal process, Seniors can have their social security checks seized to pay student loan debts with no legal process.
Here in Florida, the unification between the corporate state and the state are more clear than ever before with a brazenly corrupt legislative and executive branch working feverishly to deliver state assets like roads, medical care and prisons to private corporations…..anyone who dares to challenge this march, like Senator Mike Fasano, feels the crush of the fascist state’s boot.
Oh, and we haven’t even begun to talk about the austerity programs that are coming.
Next, the federal government obtained the power to secretly disappear American citizens with no records and no explanation. When asked by a federal judge to give assurances that this power would not be used to disappear bloggers or journalists or people like you who are reading this, the Obama Administration specifically refused to provide such assurances. More on that here
Americans are suffering like never before. No, that’s not true, Americans suffered worse during the Great Depression. But one certainly has to ask whether there’s anyway that we will not see those pictures revisited again? For now, the mainstream media and the addled masses are able to divert their stare and avoid such uncomfortable realities.
Today’s mainstream media is like a lottery scratch off ticket….you’ve got to scratch away the grey matter in order to see what surprises are covered underneath. And like a lottery ticket, once you scratch away that thin veneer, the vast, vast majority will find there is nothing there but misery and hopelessness.
Why are we spending trillions of dollars to bomb our way into peace? (The terrorists hate us because of our freedoms.)
Maybe if terrorists (today’s catch all boogeyman) saw the images of what happens on American streets, and recognized that the prisoner industrial complex makes the US the most imprisoned population on the planet, they wouldn’t hate us so much….
For every bomb that’s built and tank that welded together and multi-billion dollar aircraft that’s built in order to deliver or message of peace, (a message punctuated with burning, melting, limb severing flesh) we earn more friends and supporters in this global video game of conquest and idealistic principle sharing.
