Hurricane Clean Up And Contracting – BEWARE of SCAMS and CONS!

So, after the hurricane has passed…and as you’re out there assessing your damages…be very, very careful about who you’re contracting with to have repair work done. Be especially careful when companies coming onto your property ask you to sign open ended contracts and assignment of benefits that allow them to contract directly with your own insurance company.

First, work through your own insurance company….deal with the providers they have relationships and recommend.

Next, if you cannot do this, get written permission through your insurance company for any work being contracted with…before the work starts!

Finally, if you sign any contract, LIMIT THE SCOPE OF WORK AND THE TOTAL AMOUNT TO BE BILLED…..in order to prevent unauthorized work and fights over those charges!
