I remember as a child in the 1970’S walking to the tiny local branch of Barclay’s holding my fathers hand who was a property developer. On meeting the Mangager who was smiling. He sat us down to tea in china cups and had a chat with my Father about business, always a good and positive outcome because he knew his customers and actually cared about the people he loaned the money to. Loans weren’t suddenly called in,leaving a glut of empty commercial buildings and ruined lives. No… the Banks wanted to work with the people. Those were the days when Bankers had ethics. What happened?
