Steve Jobs is No Prophet- He’s a Pariah

Everyone is so busy hailing Steve Jobs as some legendary figure, but he’s not. He’s a perfect symbol of what’s wrong with this country.   Apple designs nifty gadgets. Apple relied upon American ingenuity, innovation and intellectual capital to create its products and create an empire….then it ships all the jobs…and all the hard fought technology to China.   That’s nothing to boast about…that’s treason…. From a story in today’s St. Petersburg Times:

But its pods, pads and phones are all assembled in China by Foxconn, a Taiwanese-owned contractor that employs close to a million people, at least 250,000 of whom work solely on Jobs’ creations. Until last year, when a wave of worker suicides and labor unrest forced Foxconn to raise wages and cut hours, the men and women who make the stuff America loves worked 60-hour weeks at roughly 50 cents an hour.

Apple is Pariah

Thank you, I’ve been saying this for some time. Jobs has a cult status because many of Apple’s customers believe they are superior to PC users, smarter for using an Apple computer over a Windows PC. That hubris spread to Apple’s other phones and fads.

Don’t these greedy CEOs know they can’t take it with them?

It’s not just Jobs it’s the general infrastructure changes envisioned by those since the days of NAFTA, (e.g., Al Gore vs. Perot debate). There’s a general trend that our Federal gov’t wants all American manufacturing overseas and to hell with Americans.

I speculate the reason America lost it’s prominence is largely due to 50,000,000 abortions coupled with birth control over the decades that have enabled the world gov’t to flood our borders with millions of third world immigrants. The abortions enabled a spiritual weakness in America’s moral high ground enabling crooks to operate in the vaccum where new life otherwise would be.

If you think about it, it makes perfect sense killing off 50 million lives would cause a vacuum in American culture enabling it to be filled with primarily third world uneducated low wage workers.

When the fight was on to raise minimum wage to a high of $3.15 an hour, one business owner was on the radio screaming about he couldn’t afford to pay his workers $3.15 an hour, these high minimum wages was killing him. He said why should he pay $3.15 an hour when he can put up a factory in the Bahamas or Taiwan and only pay “those people” $3.15 A WEEK! He’d said he’d be crazy to pay an hour for what he can pay a week! Imagine how much he was saving every month on wages alone! And no regulations on HOW the factory was being run.

This story is most important on Labor Day 2011. Consider the following from the St. Pete Times:

“Until last year, when a wave of worker suicides and labor unrest forced Foxconn to raise wages and cut hours, the men and women who make the stuff America loves worked 60-hour weeks at roughly 50 cents an hour.”

Do the math: 60 hours week x 0.50 cents per hour = $30 a week. THIRTY DOLLARS A WEEK!

Current retail cost of Apple products at Best Buy, at the “Labor Day Sale” prices:

Apple iPad 2, $499.99 to $829.99, depending on features

Apple Mac Pro, $2,305.99 to $3,238.79

    Apple iMac, $1,132.99 to $1,894.99

Apple Mac mini, $568.95 to $769.99

Apple MacBook Pro, $1,424.99 to $2,359.99

Apple MacBook Air, $834.99 to $1,614.99

Apple iPhone 4, $599.99 to $799.99, regular price without contract

    Apple iPod 4th generation, $204.99 to $364.99

    Apple iPod Classic, $236.99

Apple iPod nano 6th generation, $139.99 to $169.99

Apple 27 inch computer monitor, $993.99

Plus tons of accessories and software too numerous to list.

Zero Hedge recently reported that Apple overtook Exxon as the biggest company in America, now its market cap just hit 75% of the market cap of the entire European bank stock index (that’s right: one maker of phones and fads is worth almost as much as all of Europe’s banks).

Apple’s enormous profitability on high-price goods negates the argument that trade deals like NAFTA would preserve higher paid American jobs at the expense of low skilled jobs on cheap products. Truth is, any American job is at risk. Ross Perot has warned America since 1992 about the giant sucking sound of jobs leaving America. The sucking sound is gone, replaced now by the cries of the long-term unemployed.

According to Wikipedia, Apple’s revenue was $65 billion in 2010, with $14 billion in profit. After resuming control of Apple in 1997, Steve Jobs eliminated all corporate philanthropy programs. This guy is the poster-child for greed and bad behavior.

The tale of Apple Computer should outrage every American. Apple has 250,000 Foxconn employees in China to produce its products. In America Apple has about 25,000 employees. That means for every Apple worker in the U.S. there are 10 people in China working on iMacs, iPods, and iPhones. Foxconn has been in the news recently for employee suicides over working conditions. How is that cost factored into the pretty Apple iProduct?

Columnist E.J. Dionne claims we stopped honoring the workers long ago, in “The last Labor Day?”: “Let’s get it over with and rename the holiday “Capital Day.” We may still celebrate Labor Day, but our culture has given up on honoring workers as the real creators of wealth and their honest toil “” the phrase itself seems antique “” as worthy of genuine respect.

Imagine a Republican saying this: “Labor is prior to and independent of capital. Capital is only the fruit of labor, and could never have existed if labor had not first existed. Labor is the superior of capital, and deserves much the higher consideration.”

These heretical thoughts would inspire horror among our friends at Fox News or in the tea party. They’d likely label them as Marxist, socialist or Big Labor propaganda. Too bad for Abraham Lincoln, our first Republican president, who offered those words in his annual message to Congress in 1861. Will President Obama dare say anything like this in his jobs speech this week?” Read more here

    Happy Labor Day, suckers.

  • John Anderson says:

Forgive Steve Jobs and Apple. The stage was set, long before Apple decided to outsource. And Microsoft’s operating DVDs are produced in China, as most PCs are. Its alright to be mad, but try to direct your anger towards the proper parties.
Our jobs are gone, and I know why.
I remember the day that Eisenhower gave his exit speech warning of the influence of the Military Industrial Complex, the day Kennedy was killed, the day the Gulf of Tonkin Incident was reported, the day Nixon, the “Peace” candidate coined the phrase, “Peace with Honor” a excuse to continue the war, till enough legislators were elected that cut the funding off, as will have to happen in the two wars were in now. Total cost of Vietnam War 244 Billion. Mr Nixon goes to China to open trade, as Dr Kissinger travels to the mideast & forms OPEC. In 2 years we were losing manufacturing plants that had been in business since this country was founded. The first thing OPEC did was impose a embargo. The steady drain of Jobs, & industry continued, & the Government came up with a solution it was called NAFTA, & was pushed by Clinton & the big steam. Everybody agreed that it would be great for America. The speakers of the house and senate were in agreement, they even marched out all the former still living presidents and had a hundred economic experts, saying not only was it a good thing, but we had to do it, or times would get worse, Ross Perot showed pie charts & warned of a GIANT SUCKING SOUND!!
As to NAFTA the speakers of the house & senate were in agreement, they even marched out all the former still living presidents & had a 100 economic experts, saying not only was it a good thing, but we had to do it, or times would get worse And it worked for corporate America, but workers had to switch from manufacturing to service jobs, & that worked for a time.
The 2000 election time came and G W Bush had two messages, he used 4 dollars to represent the surplus held by the treasury & said he did not see a problem with returning 1 of those dollars back to the people, & promised not to engage in nation building, a slap at Clinton over Bosnia.
9/11/2001 WTC attack occurred, and many, unanswered questions surround the event. The 9/11 Commission was not a investigation, it was a coverup. The official original “conspiracy theory” has been totally discredited by incredible facts. In fact the majority of Americans now believe the Government lied to the people for the purpose of engaging in war.
In 2008 a economic crisis was declared first in feb 2008. Bush proposed rebate checks to stimulate the economy. It had the effect of running into a theater and screaming FIRE. My business already cut in half by reaction to 9/11 was reduced by half again. I can not believe this was done by mistake, & that they were unaware of the probable reaction from the public. The government did not rebate money during the great depression, & if the desire was to increase spending by the public sector, it had the opposite effect. The money went into the banks, ether into savings accounts or paying down debt. Personal spending dropped like never in history.
Then the big steam appeared again when the FED reported unless a unheard of amount of unmarked money was not placed in a brown paper bag and given/loaned to the banks, by friday, the economy would go off a cliff. As with NAFTA, and HEALTHCARE, there was no time to discuss anything, or read what they signed into law.
Over the last 35 years the people in power have done all they can to bust America. Our legislatures have sold out the interest of the people time & time again.
I don’t know the purpose but I do know the group responsible.
Eisenhower warned us, and we did not listen.
