RED ALERT- CALL, EMAIL, VOTE NO ON SENATE BILL 1890!

vote-no-foreclosures

The Florida Senate Judiciary Committee meets today to consider changes to foreclosure process. It’s a bad bill with next to nothing for consumers, but that isn’t seeming to slow down the progress here:

SB 1890, Foreclosure, is in Senate Judiciary Monday, February 20 at
10:30.  Please e-mail committee members before 10:30, noting “Oppose
SB 1890” in the subject line.  I have listed their e-mails so you can
cut and paste.

Here is a link to the committee page and at the bottom
are their full names:  https://www.flsenate.gov/Committees/Show/JU/

Bill sponsor is Jack Latvala.  Include him in your e-mails – I have
added his name to the cut and paste below.

Keep e-mails brief.

Show cause hearing will force homeowners to be prepared to
try cases as early as 20 days after service; judges must review files
for completeness which will be difficult to determine solely from a
paper review; the provisions for abandonment allow private process
servers to be involved in a volatile situation; limiting homeowners to
money damages upon challenge of the foreclosure judgment is egregious
overreaching –  real estate is unique, and the original homeowners
should not be deprived of real estate without due process.
