I’ve spent years slogging away, like all of my colleagues battle weary and shell shocked from seeing the abuses and the crimes and the contempt for Americans and the rule of law on the part of the banks and their allies. We fighters have suffered the pains of battle. Threats, intimidation, harassment, ridicule. But from today’s New York Times, some long overdue vindication:
U.S. Is Set to Sue a Dozen Big Banks Over Mortgages
The federal agency that oversees the mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac is set to file suits against more than a dozen big banks, accusing them of misrepresenting the quality of mortgage securities they assembled and sold at the height of the housing bubble, and seeking billions of dollars in compensation.
This is big news, and one of several MAJOR announcements. The Federal Reserve Board on Thursday announced a formal enforcement action against the Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. and Goldman Sachs Bank USA to address a pattern of misconduct and negligence relating to deficient practices in residential mortgage loan servicing and foreclosure processing involving its former subsidiary, Litton Loan Servicing LP.
