That fella up above there is a guy called Henry Paulson, Jr. , but his friends call him Hank, so I’ll call him Hank. He’s the key guy that put together the plan to write the banks and Wall Street Wizards a blank check for $750 billion of your dollars way back in 2008.
He’s widely viewed as THE ULTIMATE WALL STREET GUY if there ever was one. Now it is very clear that if Hank and the other big shots in charge hadn’t done something in 2008, the world economy would have gone careening off a cliff. I’m pretty sure history will reveal just how close we all were to a major catastrophe…but the real problem we’re all having now is the fact that all the Wall Streeters have profited GINORMOUSLY while the American people are continuing to suffer like never before.
When you watch all the news of this incredibly successful guy, you cannot imagine that he has any real connection to the suffering of the American people..he’s just too far removed from it….right? I mean he’s been living up there in the rarefied air that you breathe in when you’re part of the Goldman Sachs cartel.
But here’s a very interesting and potentially humanizing thing. According to Wikipedia:
Paulson received his Master of Business Administration degree from Harvard Business School in 1970.
Paulson was Staff Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of Defense at The Pentagon from 1970 to 1972.
He then worked for the administration of U.S. President Richard Nixon, serving as assistant to John Ehrlichman from 1972 to 1973.
Here’s another thing, right around this time, a fella by the name of Henry Paulson was being evicted from a property down in sunny Palm Beach, Florida. Now Wikipedia also shows that Paulson, (Hank that is) was born in Palm Beach so it seems pretty likely that defendant in the lawsuit reflected below was none other than Hank Paulson’s father. Hard to tell whether this was Henry Paulson senior’s home but there was actually another judgment entered sometime later related to the same property.
Digging a little deeper, it also appears that an estate was opened up for Henry Paulson in 1982…and here’s what’s interesting…it was a Summary Administration that appears to have been opened up by creditors. Wikipedia says Hank Paulson became a partner at Goldman Sachs in 1982 while creditors opened a Summary Administration for Henry Paulson, Sr. that same year. I just wonder what was going on here. Did Paulson Sr. die broke and penniless while Jr. was on the trajectory straight up on his way to making untold wealth and prestige? For me the interesting thing is it sort of humanizes a very imperial and distant figure. I wonder how these Masters of the Financial Universe tick…what they’re thinking and where they’re coming from. This adds a whole new layer and dimension to my thinking about how Hank Paulson….one of the most powerful men in the world…..thinks and operates….

I would not read to much into this. We don’t know the details of the evection.
On a side note, the actions of Paulson, regarding the destruction of Lealman Brothers. The way he handled it, contributed to the crisis. Just as Bush handing out checks to boost the economy had the same effect as running into a theater and screaming fire. Calls on my business phone dropped like a rock, “the economy was bad” was the message being put out. People who had no idea that there was trouble in the economy, because their situation had not changed, suddenly were receiving money that they were supposed to spend to help the economy. Of course retired people put that money straight into the banks, and curtailed their normal spending habits, making the economic crisis a self fulfilling prophecy.
They made a bad situation worse, and I can not accept that it was done out of ignorance of the probable result.
I have been in business here in Pinellas County Fl since 1975 at the same address, with the same phone number, and this is the seventh economic down turn I have suffered through, so I know of what I am saying.
The difference is as all these economic downturns occur we have fewer people employed in the manufacturing sector.
First Nixon opening the door to China, then NAFTA, took jobs out of America, for the profit of Wall St and the multinational corps and banks.
Our bought off leaders have sold out the interest of the American people time and time again.
As displaced workers had to enter the service sector at lower pay, our middle class was reduced in size, and purchasing power.
The retired people have been cheated by the government who have not increased their social security payments in years, while the cost of food, gas, electric bills, water bills, insurance and other expenses go up. Their investments in the stock market, that they made because the traditional CDs they used and trusted, were reduced to nothing after inflation and tax, by actions of the FED, by artificially lowering the interest rate. The way banks can go to the FED window and get money manufactured out of thin air for next to nothing, makes their life savings unimportant to the banks lending ability.
Our lawmakers are financed by the Banks, Wall Street and the Insurance industries, and the contributions and concerns of the citizens are secondary. The same influence that controls our lawmakers, has effect upon our courts and DAs, who bend and stretch the law to accommodate these industries, to the detriment of the public that they represent.
We now have a way in the computer age, to curtail this influence.
People using their social security number log on to the supervisor of elections website in their county of residence and there will be listed upcoming votes that are going before the city, “if they reside in one”county commission, state houses, and federal houses. And if 60% of this popular vote is against the bill or law, or regulation, then it does not pass, but can be brought back up for another vote in 30 days, giving the proponents time to inform the public of it’s benefits, but if it fails to receive 41% approval then it shall not be introduced for one year.
This would stop 90% of corrupt legislation that has flowed from government at every level. And it is part of our constitutional rights to have our consent recognized in this age of electronic banking and investing.
Many people are apathetic about voting because they don’t feel it makes a difference. And in the past elections since the Kennedy/Nixon days, it hasn’t, because both major parties have been controlled by the same interest. When the danger of influence by the military industrial complex was given in a speech by then President Eisenhower, who warned the American people, that “We must never let the weight of there influence endanger our liberties or democratic processes, that we should take nothing for granted, that only a alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense, with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together”
Of course after the Kennedy coup they have prospered, while the people fall into poverty.
and despair.
The way to correct this situation is the popular vote on issues, a unwritten right granted in the constitution and worth seeking, and fighting for if necessary.
I know this was a long rant on subject just barely connected to it, but it is the fourth of July, and I feel better now that I have” In the words of Pink Floyd, I have planted my bone , and every fool knows a dog needs a home, a shelter from pigs on the wing”
Happy 4th remember what it used to mean.
Funny you should mention The Floyd….I’m finding much solace in the tortured soul of Roger Waters right about now….he speaks to me now:
Tell me true, tell me why, was Jesus crucified? Was it for this that daddy died? Was it you? Was it Me? Did I watch too much TV? Is that a hint of accusation in your eyes? If it wasn’t for the Japs being so good at building ships, the yards would still be open on the Clyde and it can’t be much fun for them beneath the rising son with all their kids commiting suicide. What have we done? Maggie what have we done? What have we done to England? Should we shout? Should we scream? What happened to the post war dream? Pink Floyd- The Final Cut
