Solar Energy A Powerful Force For Independence In The Sunshine State

Check Out This Site for PowerEnz

And why is Florida so far behind the renewable energy curve?   What’s the point of being the Sunshine State if we don’t even use it?   I think the power companies, the oil companies, the established Wall Street interests have conspired to prevent Americans from accessing free, pollution free renewable energy.

Just think about this….what if America had invested all our initiative, all our goodwill, and some fraction of the trillions of dollars we spent on wars and instead worked to make solar and renewable energy our national priority?   Just think about all our licensed roofing contractors retrofitting our existing roofs with solar panels.   Just think about all our state’s licensed heating and air conditioning contractors installing geothermal units in homes and buildings all across the state.

And next time you open up the door of your steaming car in the mall parking lot, just imagine for a moment that the entire parking lot has been completely covered….with a solar paneled roof.   Think that’s fantasy?   Well, they exist…all over the world.   Have a look here.

But as far as I can tell, there’s not a single one in The Sunshine State. Why is that?   I think it’s because Florida is one of the most corrupt states in the entire country.   I think it is because powerful special interest groups strangle innovation, suffocate ingenuity and snuff out the entrepreneurial spirit.   That’s got to stop.   And it can.   Right now. You have the power.

Demand a change.

Great idea Matt! Love the link to the photos of cars parked under solar panel roofs. And the solar panels made to look like trees with big leaves, how cool is that! I want one over my driveway today!

A couple weeks ago news stories broke about Bill Clinton’s plain to paint black tar roofs with reflective white paint. https://blogs.reuters.com/great-debate/2011/07/21/painting-bill-clinton%E2%80%99s-white-roofs-into-reality/ According to the story, a roof covered with solar-reflective white paint reflects up to 90% of sunlight as opposed to the 20% reflected by a traditional black roof. White roofs also reduce the “urban heat island” effect in which temperatures rise in dense urban areas because of the proliferation of heat-radiating, black tar surfaces. But I like your idea even better, cover “˜em with solar panels.

Florida is the Sunshine State. Its also Floridah, the stupid state that is resistant to change innovation, ingenuity and the entrepreneurial spirit. Powerful special interest and political groups want everything for themselves.

Just think of all the Middle Eastern imported oil we could replace with solar panels. And then trim down the military needed to safeguard that oil supply. Then use the money saved to rebuild our infrastructure, like more parking lots with tree-like solar panels….

  • We MUST MAKE THIS HAPPEN! Radical changes mean educate in government and companies. Most in the real estate industry don’t even know about Florida Stature 163.04, a homeowner may not be denied permission to install a solar collector, clothesline, or other
energy device based on renewable resources by “any entity granted the power or right in any deed restriction, covenant or similar binding agreement to approve, forbid, control, or direct alteration
    of property…”
The law specifically prohibits a community association from
preventing the installation of solar collectors on the roof. SO if Realtors know nothing of this, wow what a true disconnect. We have taught 6,000 and are in the process of delivering green education on companies and governments word wide

Thanks for mentioning this and for your passion-

I also think that the government should do more to promote solar energy devices instead of cutting taxes on oil because the use of solar energy is clearly on the rise. In Canada the government offers a cash rebate of $150 as a part of the Ontario Home Energy Audit Program which significantly decreases the final cost. Even though there still are some lingering myths about using this kind of energy in our country its great success is undeniable.
