Perhaps the most rewarding thing about practicing in this area of law is working with clients and activists and other attorneys who recognize this struggle is far more significant than merely foreclosure.
The rest of the world would do well to listen, but sadly too many are still stuck in a most elementary expression of contempt for the people who are suffering in this country. Elected and appointed leaders, judges and policymakers who fail to look beneath the surface. It’s a ruinous perspective they have and one that prolongs the suffering. We cannot win every heart or open every mind.
I thought of this as I read something that reminds us all of our responsibility:
But if the watchman sees the enemy coming and doesn’t sound the alarm to warn the people, he is responsible for their captivity. They will die in their sins, but I will hold the watchman responsible for their deaths.
