I began the morning with a nice long run, then returned to read a few chapters of Reckle$$ Endangerment, the gripping autopsy of the 2008 financial crisis by Gretchen Morgenson and Joshua Rosner.
The bottom line is a small group of reckless and unrepentant gamblers frittered away and wasted the treasure and wealth of generations. They have paid no price, they suffered no consequence. In fact, most of the players went on to greater positions of power and even greater wealth.
I juxtapose this treason with the photograph above. I wonder how we’ve gone from being a country that honored sacrifice and honored the rule of law to becoming a nation that overlooks the systemic and gross crimes and treasonous conduct that brought us to where we are now.
And I wonder what ultimate price we will pay for this new national disorder.
