Please watch the videos very carefully. Please turn up the volume, shut out everything else and focus on the pictures. This is what our country has become. When you look at the video, when you see the bombs going off again and again in and among these kids, you must be impacted by this.
Remember, these protesters are largely kids. Young, pulsating, wild. But kids. But these are our nation’s children. And we are permitting paramilitary forces to fire upon them with scarcely a wimper of protest and certainly no protest that comes close to matching the magnitude of these transgressions.
The federal government has turned our civilian police forces into paramilitary occupying forces. And if you think this is bad, just wait until the real military assets are repositioned from their foreign targets and focused inwardly on “domestic security”. I know it makes me feel very much insecure.
I met with a retired high ranking officer this weekend and we discussed all this at length. We talked about how tense and disaffected he was after returning from Iraq a few years back and about how I predicted the kind of uprising we’re seeing years ago. He described the challenges our men and women in uniform faced in Iraq in particular because they were so tightly constrained in the force they were permitted to display, much less use.
And then as we reviewed this video, he made a point that every single American should pay very close attention to. He reminded me that if any unit had executed this level of aggressiveness in the midst of this kind of protest in Iraq, investigations would be convened and that every single soldier on scene and every single officer up the chain of command would be investigated until the bad actors were identified and subject to court marshal.
