TALLAHASSEE — Legislative budget-writers are shifting more of Florida’s national mortgage settlement dollars into programs targeting the homeless, low-income college students, and foreclosure-clogged courts.
The Senate on Thursday offered a new amendment to SB 1852 that re-allocates how the state will divvy out $200 million from the settlement, diverting $41 million to courts and legal aid, $20 million for Habitat for Humanity, and $10 million to domestic violence centers around the state.
